Mackie Adlem finds himself in the somewhat unfamiliar position of needing to make up ground in Round 2 of the 2023 Mobil 1 V8 Supercars Championship at Red Star Raceway this coming weekend (21-22 April).
The defending six-time champion is on the back of his most dominant season but trails Julian Fameliaris by 16 points while occupying third place. However, the Adlem Auto Racing Jaguar XKR driver is relishing the challenge ahead of him. Thus far, Adlem and Fameliaris share the 2023 race victories.
“It has been quite some time since I had to make up some ground, but I am equally comfortable in either position”, says Adlem. “My approach is always the same: Give God the glory, arrive and give my best. The rest will take care of itself. I expect some fierce competition this weekend, which will make for some entertaining racing. My team and I are as prepared as we can be, and it comes down to the racing now.”
Saturday’s races will form part of the Extreme Festival event and are scheduled for 12:30 and 16:25, respectively. Both races will be contested over eight laps. Spectator tickets can be purchased directly from Red Star Raceway upon arrival.
