Warren Lombard (PepBoys Automotive Ford Mustang) and Thomas Reib (Café 9 Automotive Chevrolet Lumina) head to the Kyalami Grand Prix Circuit separated by just one point at the top of the Dunlop V8 Supercars championship log. The second round of the 2025 championship, which takes place at the iconic circuit from 10 to 12 April, will see the pair trying to eke out an advantage over each other and the rest of the field.

When the series visited Kyalami last year, Reib and Lombard were both on the podium in both races. After their performances at the opening round back in March, where they shared the wins, the smart money is on them again running at the head of the field. They, however, won’t have it all their own way. Although his car is not eligible to score championship points, Ben Morgenrood, in the GTX class Ben Morgenrood Ford Mustang, was in the mix at Zwartkops last time. Terry Wilford (Wilford Racing Ford Mustang) and Franco di Matteo (Di Matteo Racing Jaguar XKR) suffered mechanical problems at the opening round and will be looking to bounce back at Kyalami.

Regular Finnish visitor Sam Dahl (ArcProTech Ford Falcon) is in third place in the overall championship standings and will do his best to improve his points score. He leads Wayne Spicer (Wellness Group Jaguar XKR) in the standings with Antonie Marx (ReMan Holden) and Steve Herbst (PREI Instrumentation Chevrolet Corvette) equal on points, fighting for fifth place. Auke Campaan (Hurricane Automotive Ford Mustang), Alan Ryan (Wellness Group Ford Falcon), and Richard Fuller (Potaround Ford Falcon) round out the field.
The drivers will have a couple of practice sessions on Thursday and another on Friday morning before tackling qualifying at 13h45 on Friday afternoon. Saturday’s races take place at 09h40 and 14h10.
The Dunlop V8 Supercars also welcome three new sponsors to the series for the remainder of the season. CIM Lubricants, a leading independent manufacturer of premium lubricants, Pro Link Hydraulics, which supplies hydraulic hoses and fittings, FTF racing components, air conditioning hoses and fittings, and Brooklyn Motorlab, a leading Pretoria repair centre, have all thrown their weight behind the series.
